Don Horstkotte has over 35 years of experience in healthcare management and consulting. Prior to joining Stroudwater, Don served as the CEO of not-for-profit and investor-owned hospitals, and in system-level roles with a major Catholic healthcare system as a Regional Director of Operations and Finance. Since joining Stroudwater in 2006, Don has consulted to a variety of hospital and health system clients on strategic and operational issues ranging from market and regional strategy development, operations improvement, affiliations, and population based payment systems.
Don has recently done a great deal of work assisting providers in developing strategies for transitioning the function and form of organizations built to succeed in the historical fee-for-service payment model to those that will succeed in an environment based predominantly on population-based payment models.
Don completed his undergraduate studies at Amherst College and earned a Masters of Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He has also completed coursework at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.
